Pineapple Black Virtual Arts
PBVArts
Developed in response to Covid-19 and the difficulties faced by artists and gallery goers, PBVArts is virtual extension of Pineapple Black Contemporary Art Space.
This virtual rendition of Pineapple Black’s existing exhibition space will feature a programme of monthly exhibitions running throughout 2021.

THIS IS A STATEMENT OF INTENT.
WORKING CLASS CREATIVES DATABASE.
This is the first collective exposition from the Working Class Creatives Database, held in conjunction with Pineapple Black. Uniting the work is one thread: created by people from a working-class background. This is a statement of our intent.

The Working Class Creatives Database is a platform highlighting the work of people who are working class, giving a supporting structure to people that are involved in the arts. It aims to give more of a space to working-class artists within the arts, and by extension the wider community.

Involving an extensive number of members from the database, the exhibition will bring together many different disciplines to create a showcase for their work. Held in an expansive 3D space, there will be a network of rooms allowing the viewer to explore painting, photography, 3D design, and sculpture, amongst other forms. As well as showcasing member’s work, it will contribute to a broader narrative of working class experience in the arts.

In the arts, working-class people are significantly under-represented. As of 2020, only 16% of the workforce in creative industries identify as being from working-class backgrounds. By creating a platform for working-class creatives this begins to readdress these issues within the sector through creating a voice for those that are otherwise outsiders.

It will be held as an online exhibition launching April 9th until May 14th in Pineapple Black’s virtual gallery PBVArts.
